The Saint Joseph's softball team extended its winning streak to six games as the Hawks opened Atlantic 10 play with 2-0 and 7-3 victories over Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon at SJU Softball Field.
How It Happened - Game One
•
Meghan Sinkus gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with her first collegiate home run.
•
Kaelin Cash extended Saint Joseph's lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run.
•
Emily Siler and the Hawks' defense set the Minutewomen down in order over the final two innings to preserve the win
Inside The Boxscore - Game One
• Siler allowed just one hit and struck out eight to improve to 5-5 on the year with the shutout victory.
• Sinkus was 2-for-3 with a home run.
• Cash went 1-for-2 with her team-leading eighth home run.Â
How It Happened - Game Two
• UMass took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI double by Bella Pantoja.
• Saint Joseph's plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take jump in front, 3-1.

Madison Fife tied the game at 1-1 as she scored from third on a sacrifice fly by
Erica Lawrence.

Riley York doubled down the right field line, scoringÂ
Jessica Gaughan to put the Hawks ahead, 2-1.
•
Hailey Malito followed with a RBI double to score York and extend the lead to 3-1.
• Jules Shields brought the Minutewomen to within 3-2 in the top of the fifth with a solo home run.
• The Hawks got a run back in the bottom of the fifth as Fife scored onn a RBI single by Gaughan to push ahead 4-2.
• A fielding error on a ball hit by Sinkus allowed
Kayla Tauber to score in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-2.

Sarah Cancila followed with a two-run home run off the scoreboard to extend the lead to 7-2.
• The Minutewomen loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with one out, but Saint Joseph's worked out of the jam, getting the final two outs, while allowing just one run.
Inside The Boxscore - Game Two
•
Jules Scogna picked up the victory, allowing one earned run over 5.1 innings of relief, while striking out four.
• Siler earned the save as she came on in the top of the seventh to get the final two outs.
• Cancila was 2-for-3 with a home run.
• Gaughan was 2-for-2 with a RBI and run scored.
• Malito was 2-for-3 with a RBI.
