MERION STATION, Pa. – Backed by strong results up and down the lineup, the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team defeated Towson, 5-2, at the SJU Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Hawks took the early lead when
Anna Kirk and
Stow Weiss won at love in the first doubles flight to clinch the first point of the day.
• With Towson defaulting in the sixth flight,
Sophia Amato was a straight-sets winner in the fifth to give the Hawks a commanding lead.
• After a pair of Tiger wins in the second and fourth flights, Weiss battled back from a set down in the first flight for the clinching victory.
Fabiana Tort-Umpierre followed with a three-set win of her own in the third flight to set the final margin.
