The Saint Joseph's softball team split its series-opening doubleheader on Friday as the Hawks won the first game, 2-0, but fell in the nightcap, 6-3, at SJU Softball Field.
How It Happened - Game One
• Saint Joseph's
Meghan Sinkus drilled a solo home run to center field to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
• Sinkus added her second home run in the bottom of the fourth as she put the Hawks ahead 2-0 with a solo shot.

Emily Siler and the Hawks' defense made the two-run lead stand as they kept the Colonials off the scoreboard.
Inside The Boxscore - Game One
• Siler improved to 8-7 on the season as she struck out nine in the complete game shutout.
• Sinkus went 2-for-3 with two home runs, a walk and a stolen base.
How It Happened - Game Two
• George Washington took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a RBI single by Alena Ramirez.
• A two-run home run by Reese Torres extended the Colonials' lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth.
• A throwing error on a bunt by
Sarah Cancila allowed Sinkus to score to make it 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
• Saint Joseph's tied it later in the fifth as
Karlee Smith scored on a sacrifice fly by
Jessica Gaughan, with Cancila scoring later on the play.
• George Washington retook the lead in the top of the sixth, 4-3, on a sacrifice fly by Gabby Polsky.
• The Colonials added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Inside The Boxscore - Game Two
• Smith was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
• Saint Joseph's starting pitcher
Taylor Trowbridge tossed 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, but didn't receive a decision.

Saige Stutz, who allowed one earned run over 2.0 innings of relief, moved to 0-3 on the year.
