This past April, Saint Joseph's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee held an on-campus fundraiser to support neighboring Samuel Gompers Elementary School.
Spearheaded by Sam Dumont (women's soccer), Robbie Seeley (men's lacrosse) and Gianna Pappas, the Hawks hosted a lemonade stand at Sweeney Field on April 22 to raise funds for safety padding at Gompers' outdoor basketball courts, and the creation of an outfit for Gompers' school mascot. Held in conjunction with Saint Joseph's SpringFest, Saint Joseph's SAAC and the Hawk Hill community helped raise more than $1,200 for the padding and mascot uniform.
What is a Saint Joseph's SAAC?
A student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and polices that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses. The network of SAACs, from individual campus committees to the conference and/or national committees, interact and support one another to shape intercollegiate athletics policy and enhance the student-athlete experience.
