MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team played its first dual match of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday and earned a 5-2 victory over Monmouth at the SJU Tennis Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's took the doubles point with wins in the top two flights.
Addison Melfi and
Victoria Tracey were 6-4 winners in the first flight, while
Claudia Perez-Garcia and
Brooke Tackett combined for a 7-5 win in the second.
• Tracey rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win in the top singles flight to put another point on the board for the Crimson and Gray.
• Melfi, Perez-Garcia, and Tackett earned supertiebreaker wins to collect the clinching points. Melfi and Tackett rallied from a set down for wins in the second and fourth flights, respectively, while Perez-Garcia won her first set in a tiebreaker before sealing the match in a supertiebreaker.
