PHILADELPHIA – A slow start spurned the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team on Friday evening, falling in a 15-7 defeat to Towson in the home opener on Sweeney Field.
The Hawks fall to 0-3 on the season, while Towson improves to 3-1 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks fell victim to a hot start from the visitors, Towson earning a quick 6-0 lead after 10 minutes of play.
- St. Joe's finally got on the board through Colin Reich, the midfielder grabbing his third goal of the season to end the Hawks' drought.
- After Towson added a tally before the end of the second, the Hawks looked to get back in the game with goals by Levi Anderson and Carter Page in the opening minute of the second quarter.
- However, the Hawks fell victim to a 14-minute goal drought, the Tigers taking advantage for a 4-0 advantage to end the half with an 11-3 lead.
- Anderson powered his way through a defender, bulldozing his way to a second goal of the evening for the graduate student. Jesse Jason added his first goal of the night with a strike to cut into the deficit.
- Nine minutes of play without another St. Joe's goal gave Towson an opportunity to strike twice before Anderson added his third goal of the year. The Canadian once again called his own number with under three minutes to play in the third quarter.
- The visitors shut down the Hawk attack, keeping St. Joe's out of the net over the final frame and pushed the lead to 15-7, walking out victors on Sweeney Field.
