WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 bested West Virginia as the Hawks competed at the George Washington Invitational on the Potomac River.

How It Happened
• Opening the two-day event against the Mountaineers in the Varsity 8 event, the Hawks edged out West Virginia by 3.7 seconds as they won the race in a time of 6:21.4.
• St. Joe's 2nd Varsity 8 posted a time of 6:41.5 in its race as West Virginia crossed the finish line first.
• Due to unsafe conditions, the Hawks did not compete in Saturday's events.

• "It was good to get some racing on Friday and get another win for the V8 against West Virginia. Weekend weather this year has been a challenge. We are hoping to get some more ideal conditions next week at the Mason Invite."
