LEONIA, N.J. – Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 earned a victory in its morning race as the Hawks' women' rowing team hosted the Saint Joseph's Invitational at Overpeck Park on Saturday.
How It Happened
• The Hawks' Varsity 8 opened the day with a first-place finish as Saint Joseph' s beat Bucknell and UConn by open water in a time of 7:51.128.
• Saint Joseph's 2nd Varsity 8 posted a time of 8:51.831in its morning race to finish third as the Hawks also contended with rough, choppy waters that included 12-15 mph headwinds.
• St. Joe's Varsity 4 capped the morning's competition as it place second in its event with a time of 9:44.734.
• In the afternoon, Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 crossed the finish line in 7:52.677 to top Atlantic 10 rival UMass for a second place finish in the three-boat event.
• The Hawks 2nd Varsity 8 finished its afternoon race in a time of 8:44.936 to place third.
• Saint Joseph's Varsity 4 capped the afternoon with a third place finish in its event in a time of 9:55.404.
