TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2023-24 Division I All-Academic Awards on Monday afternoon, and 11 Saint Joseph's men's and women's tennis student-athletes received Scholar-Athlete honors from the organization.

Three members of the men's team were honored, as sophomore
John Butler received his second nod while sophomore
Mark Rubin and freshman
Othman Bezzaz earned their first.

On the women's side, eight Hawks pulled in ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades, with graduate student
Sophia Amato being feted for the fourth consecutive year. Graduate student
Ireland Amato, senior
Fabiana Tort-Umpierre, and junior
Ana Ocasio earned laurels for the third time, while senior
Kirsten Wijnsema and junior
Charlotte Kordonowy were honored for the second time and freshman
Brooke Tackett earned her first recognition.

In addition, both squads earned ITA All-Academic Team recognition as well.

In order to qualify as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average over the course of the academic year. To qualify for All-Academic Team status, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better for the year.
