MERION STATION, Pa. – Day two of the 2024 SJU Invitational saw a pair of victories as a Hawk doubles pairing reached the final of its flight.
Addison Melfi and
Ana Ocasio took a 6-3 result in the semifinals of the Gray flight to move to Sunday morning's final. In the Crimson flight,
Claudia Perez-Garcia and
Gisele Tang fell by the same score in the semifinals.
Perez-Garcia competed in the Crimson Flight in the singles draw, dropping a 6-1, 6-2 result in the quarterfinals before falling in a consolation match as well. Melfi suffered a pair of defeats in the Gray draw, falling 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 in a supertiebreaker in the quarterfinals before dropping a consolation match afterward.
Also in singles play,
Ana Ocasio fell in the quarters in the Black draw but rebounded to win at love in a consolation tilt.
The tournament concludes on Sunday at the SJU Tennis Complex.
