Women’s Track and Field Compete at Penn Select

PHILADELPHIA, Pa - The Saint Joseph's women's track and field team competed at the Penn Select meet on Saturday at the Ott Center.
 
TRACK EVENTS
  • Starting the meet with the mile, Danika Slits opened her winter track career to lead the Hawks with a time of 5:11.38. Senior Danielle Juliano finished in 5:16.33, closely followed by freshman Sabrina Paz (5:19.51). Seniors Maura Keane (5:26.66) and Katie Sparks (5:33.92) closed out the event for the Hawks.
  • In the prelims, Sammy Walz led the Hawks in the 60m dash, dropping .13 seconds off her personal-best to qualify for the finals with a 7.73s finish. Olivia Binns was next to follow with a time of 7.95s. Judith Walker (7.97s), Maya Adams (8.07s), Lily Ferguson (8.26s), and Chloe Kearney (8.62s) all set new PRs in the event. 
  • In the finals of the 60m, Walz trimmed another .02 seconds to place fourth with a time of 7.71s. The time was the fourth-fastest ran by a Hawk in the event and qualifies her for the ECAC meet.
  • Senior Jessica Rubio led the Hawks in the 400m, running a 58.16s time. Olivia Beddow clocked a finish of 1:01.07, followed closely by Samantha Korck (1:02.21) and Camille Bertin (1:03.31). 
  • Tess Crossan (2:14.42) ran an ECAC-qualifying time to place fifth in the 800m. Alexis Westawski (2:21.26) and Gemma Chevoor (2:23.33) finished back-to-back after only being separated by two seconds. In her collegiate track debut, Quinn O'Brien ran a 2:25.71 to place 17th. 
  • In her second event of the day, Walz (25.48s) led the Hawks in the 200m. Jessica Rubio (26.22s) followed, setting a new PR in the event. Judith Walker finished with a time of 26.50s. Maya Adams and Olivia Binns crossed the line in 26.58s and 27.02s, respectively. Stephanie Cristinzio (27.62s) finished the event for the Hawks.
  • In the 3000m, freshman Grace Fennell (10:46.29) set a new PR to lead the Hawks in the event. Madison Buddenbohn (10:49.24) and Emily Peifer (10:52.99) finished back-to-back with three seconds separating each of the first three runners. The next set of Hawks were Lauren Charboneau (11:05.10) and Carlyn Segrave-Daly (11:06.85). Charboneau set a new PR in the event. 
  • Closing out the day with the 4x400m relay, the team of Crossan, Beddow, Westawski, and Bertin ran a time of 4:01.48.
 
FIELD EVENTS
  • In the long jump, Lily Ferguson set a season-best effort, her best leap (5.23m) coming from her first jump.

UP NEXT
  • The Hawks return for the third-consecutive meet at the Ott Center, taking part in the Quaker Invitational on Saturday, January 18.
