Women’s Track and Field Yield Strong Results at Quaker Invitational

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Saint Joseph's women's track and field competed at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center on Saturday at the Quaker Invitational.
 
TRACK RESULTS
  • The Hawks opened the meet with a PR as Madison Buddenbohn (5:24.24) dropped six seconds off of her previous best time to lead the Crimson and Gray in the mile. Finishing just behind Buddenbohn was Emily Peifer (5:26.25), who made her collegiate mile debut. Lauren Charboneau and Carlyn Segrave-Daly finished back-to-back with times of  5:28.08 and 5:31.11. Sophomore Grace Fennell closed out the event with a 5:41.47 time. 
  • In the 60m dash, sophomore Maya Adams took 0.02 off her best time for a 8:09s finish. Cecilia Abruzzo opened her collegiate track career for the Hawks, crossing the finish line in 8.24s. Junior Felicia Oh (8.50s) ran her first collegiate 60m at the invitational. 
  • In her collegiate 400m debut, Sammy Walz came across the finish line in 58.59s to place sixth. Stephanie Cristinzio just missed breaking 60 seconds, timing at 1:00.64. Tess Collins and Sydney Wynn rounded out the event for the Hawks with times of 1:01.54 and 1:04.40. 
  • Setting a new PR by over 10 seconds, Jessica Rubio (1:15.83) ran an ECAC-qualifying time to place eighth in the 500m. Olivia Beddow (1:19.12) and Kimberly Johnson (1:19.42) finished with only 0.3 seconds separating the pair. Camille Bertin crossed the finish line in 1:24.41.
  • Finishing less than a second behind first place, junior Tess Crossan (2:12.50) set a new indoor best in the 800m after her second-place finish. Her new time is the third-fastest time run by a Hawk in the event, only 0.09s behind the school record. Only a second separated Quinn O'Brien (2:22.02) and Gemma Chevoor (2:22.98) as both set a new PR in the event.
  • In the 1000m, senior Danielle Juliano came across the line in 3:04.69 with fellow senior Katherine Sparks finishing in 3:14.75.  
  • In her second race of the day, Walz (25.31s) ran a new PR and an ECAC-qualifying time in the 200m. Maya Adams (26.37s) and Judith Walker (26.40s) were separated by only 0.03 seconds, both setting new season-bests. Stephanie Cristinzio came across the line in 27.07s to set a new PR, with Cecilia Abruzzo only 0.04 seconds behind in 27.11s.
  • Sabrina Paz closed the last 200m of her first collegiate 3000m race in 37 seconds to finish in a time of 10:31.16. Maura Keane came in at 10:42.36.
  • To close out a successful day for the Hawks, the 4x400 team of Johnson, Crossan, Bertin and Beddow ran a time of 4:02.15 while the team of Chevoor, O'Brien, Wynn and Juliano ran a time of 4:13.11.
 
FIELD RESULTS
  • Lily Ferguson and Chloe Kearney represented the Hawks in the long jump. Ferguson lept a best attempt of 5.20m, while Kearney jumped 4.51m to set a season-best in the event. 

UP NEXT
The Hawks take part in their first meet outside of city limits, heading to New York for the Columbia Challenge next weekend.
