Women’s Track and Field Collect Trio of First-Place Finishes at Scarlet Knight Open

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's women's track and field team had a strong day after returning to The Armory for the second-consecutive week, a trio of Hawks earning top finishes on Friday.
 
TRACK RESULTS
  • Felicia Oh opened the meet for the Hawks in the 60m hurdles, finishing with a time of 9.73s. Oh returned to the track moments later, setting a time of 8.68s in the 60m.
  • Sabrina Paz led a group of four Hawks in the mile, pacing the team with a time of 5:10.65. Just under two seconds separated Maura Keane (5:17.64) and Katie Sparks (5:19.50), while Lauren Charboneau rounded out the group with a 5:34.21 finish.
  • St. Joe's took two of the top three finishes in the 600m, Tess Crossan cruising to a first-place finish with a time of 1:33.86. Crossan's time was nearly three-tenths faster than the rest of the field. Gemma Chevoor earned a podium finish, the freshman crossing the finish in 1:37.16 to secure third. Alexis Doherty clocked in at 1:44.79 for eighth.
  • Crossan returned to the track in the 400m, her time of 1:00.64 finishing in the top third of the field and as the fastest Hawk in the event. Olivia Beddow was just three-hundredths shy of the senior, crossing the line in a time of 1:00.67. Camille Bertin clocked in with a result of 1:03.62 while Rylee Barnhart finished with a time of 1:09.80.
  • Ava Curry dominated the field in the 1000m, finishing more than three seconds ahead of the field with a first-place time of 2:53.80. Quinn O'Brien raced to a third-place time of 2:57.84, beating out Columbia's Caroline Jankowich by .02s for a podium finish. Danika Slits and Danielle Juliano finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 2:59.84 and 3:01.88.
  • The Hawks claimed back-to-back wins, coming from Alexis Westawski in the 800m as the senior finished with a time of 2:17.38 to edge out the top spot by .14s.
  • Grace Fennell paced the Hawks in the 3000m, posting a top-12 time of 10:36.19, with Madison Buddenbohn two spots behind at 10:39.49.  Emily Peifer ran a 10:50.81 in the event, while Carlyn Segrave-Daly posted a 10:59.40.
 
FIELD RESULTS
  • Lily Ferguson finished with her best jump on her final attempt, the leap of 5.40m claiming fourth place in the college section of the long jump.
 
UP NEXT
The men and women head up to Boston next weekend to compete in the Scarlet and White Invite on Saturday, February 8.
