NEWTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's senior
Luke Johnson put the Hawks ahead early, but Boston College rallied for a 2-1 victory Friday afternoon in the regular-season finale.
St. Joe's enters postseason play at 6-7-4, finishing 3-2-3 in Atlantic 10 action to secure its first Atlantic 10 Championship berth since 2022. The Hawks will await the outcome of Saturday's conference games to determine their tournament seeding.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles generated several early chances, forcing Cooper Jennings to make four saves in the first 17 minutes.
- Despite the early pressure, the Hawks struck first as Luke Johnson converted from the penalty spot after a Boston College foul in the box.
- Boston College quickly responded after Ask Ekeland leveled the match in the 22nd minute.
- Matteo Mazzotta tested the Eagle goalkeeper in the 42nd minute, but the sides entered halftime tied at 1-1.
- Jennings added two more saves early in the second half before Ekeland netted his second goal just past the hour mark to give the hosts the lead.
- St. Joe's nearly equalized in the final moments, but Mason Csapo's shot sailed over the bar with two seconds remaining as Boston College held on for a 2-1 win.
