MEDIA, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped a tight match on Saturday, falling to Loyola Maryland, 4-3, at Springton Tennis Club.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Hawks took the early lead by winning the top two doubles flights.
Wiktoria Czerny and
Victoria Tracey were winners in flight one while
Charlotte Kordonowy and
Brooke Tackett won their match in the second flight.
• Czerny and Kordonowy rolled to straight sets wins in the second and third singles flights, respectively, but the Greyhounds were able to secure the overall match with three singles victories and a default.
HAWK TALK
"We secured the doubles point, which we needed knowing we were shorthanded today in singles," head coach
Jeff Puhan said. "They fought today, coming out strong in singles. Tori is rolling at number two; Charlotte put together a great showing as well. Victoria had her chance; her opponent got hot in the tiebreaker hitting 9 winners. A lot of good things today, and we will be healthy for our next match with two of our starters back. We now have two weeks to prepare for NJIT."
UP NEXT
The Hawks will visit NJIT on February 14.
