Women’s Tennis Falls to Delaware State, 5-2

MEDIA, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team opened its weekend slate on Friday, falling to Delaware State, 5-2, at Springton Tennis Club.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Delaware State took the early lead via the doubles point.  Charlotte Kordonowy and Brooke Tackett won their third flight match, 7-5, but the Hornets won the other two to claim the point.
 
Gisele Tang won her fifth-flight match, 6-3, 6-3, to tie the overall match score.  After the Hornets earned a win in the first flight, Kordonowy drew the Hawks level again with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the fourth.
 
• Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, Delaware State closed out the final three singles flights for the overall match victory.
 
HAWK TALK
"We dug ourselves into a hole today," head coach Jeff Puhan said.  "We put ourselves in position to win every singles match but couldn't overcome the adversity.  We need to learn from this as we turn to our first conference match on Sunday against Duquesne."
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks will host Duquesne on Sunday.
