Crossan Sets School Record in the 800m at Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invite

BOSTON, Mass. – Tess Crossan shattered a 25-year-old record at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invite, highlighting the Saint Joseph's women's track and field team's performance on Saturday in the 800m.
 
TRACK RESULTS
  • Madison Buddenbohn led a trio of Hawks competing in the 5000m to open the meet, finishing with a time of 18:17.03. Emily Peifer (18:28.68) and Grace Fennell (18:49.08) followed behind the graduate student.
  • Felicia Oh raced to a 9.49s finish in the 60m hurdle prelims, falling short of a qualifying time for the finals.
  • Olivia Binns was under a tenth of a second from qualifying in the 60m dash, her time of 8.01s the second-fastest among runners that didn't make the finals of the event. Judith Walker and Maya Adams were separated by .03s with times of 8.09s and 8.12s, while Cecilia Abruzzo timed in with an 8.26s effort.
  • Tess Crossan entered the Saint Joseph's record books with her 800m performance, setting a new school record after finishing with a time of 2:09.30 to break the record held for 25 years. Gabby Quezada had the previous best, running a 2:12.41 in the 2000 season.
  • Gemma Chevoor produced a time of 2:16.38 in the 800m to set a new personal best, while Quinn O'Brien (2:17.92) and Alexis Doherty (2:25.76) also competed in the event.
  • Jessica Rubio paced the Hawks in the 500m with an 11th-place finish of 1:16.55. Kimberly Johnson (1:16.87) finished just behind her counterpart to earn ECAC qualification. Olivia Beddow and Camille Bertin finished with times of 1:19.30 and 1:23.53, respectively.
  • Stephanie Cristinzio was the lone Hawk in the 400m, finishing in a time of 1:00.22.
  • The Hawks were paced in the mile by Ava Curry, the senior finishing with a time of 4:49.36. Danika Slits recorded a time of 5:03.31 while Carlyn Segrave-Daly crossed the line in 5:35.46.
  • Maya Adams finished in a scoring position in the open section of the 200m, crossing the line in seventh with a PR of 25.57s. Judith Walker followed behind with a 26.08s time, while Olivia Binns also set a personal best with a time of 26.30s. Only five-tenths separated the group of Tess Collins (26.73s - PR), Cecilia Abruzzo (26.79s - PR), Stephanie Cristinzio (26.88s - PR) and Olivia Beddow (27.21s), while Camille Bertin rounded out the Hawk-laden field with a personal-best 28.04s finish.
  • Alexis Westawski produced a top-half finish in the 1000m, securing 14th with a time of 2:57.93 to set a new personal best and qualify for ECACs.
  • Curry returned to the track to lead a group of Hawks with a time of 9:44.93 in the 3000m. Curry set a new personal best in the event and set an ECAC-qualifying time. Freshman Sabrina Paz timed in at a 10:20.92 mark to join Curry with a personal best, while back-to-back-to-back finishes from Katie Sparks (10:40.23), Maura Keane (10:46.95) and Lauren Charboneau (10:48.19) rounded out the event for St. Joe's. Charboneau was the third Hawk in the event to set a PR.
  • The Hawks closed out competition in the 4x400m relay. The team of Johnson, Rubio, Crossan and Beddow finished in a time of 3:53.50, while the team of Chevoor, Westawski, O'Brien and Doherty crossed the line in 4:04.40.
 
FIELD RESULTS
  • Lily Ferguson produced a best of 5.15m in the long jump to finish in the top half of the field.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks return to the track in two weeks, staying in the city to take part in the Philadelphia Metro on Saturday, February 22.
