HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks got on the board in the bottom of the third. With Sarah Cancila on first after a fielder's choice, Malito singled through the left side, moving Cancila to third. Riley York stepped in next and lifted a sac fly to left, bringing Cancila across the plate for a 1-0 SJU lead.
- UMass drew even in the sixth with a double, fielder's choice and a throwing error.
- As the game progressed into extra innings, the Minutewomen threatened in the ninth, loading the bases with one out, but Trowbridge was able to get a comebacker to the circle and threw home for the first, getting the second out. The next batter grounded out to second as the Hawks escaped the jam.
- In the bottom of the 10th, Kayla Tauber poked a single into left to start the inning. She moved to second on a groundout and took third on an infield hit by Malito to set up York's heroics.
