MEDIA, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team returned to action from its Spring Break trip on Friday, falling to George Washington, 5-2, at Springton Tennis Club.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The two teams battled early on for the doubles point, with
Wiktoria Czerny and
Victoria Tracey taking a 7-6 (2) win in the top flight, but the Revolutionaries won the second flight and sealed the point with a 7-5 win in the third.
• The Hawks claimed a pair of singles wins as Czerny and Tracey won their first- and second-flight matches, respectively, in supertiebreakers, but the visitors took the remaining flights to secure the overall victory.
HAWK TALK
"Coming off our Spring Break trip, we started out giving ourselves a chance to win the doubles point, but it slipped through us," head coach
Jeff Puhan said. "It was a great performance by Tori and Vic at #1; when we learn we all have to compete on a daily basis, we will be successful. It was a great day for Tori and Vic getting singles wins as well."
UP NEXT
The Hawks will host Coppin State and Le Moyne on March 15.
