Women's Rowing Captures Mason Invitational Crown

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team dominated on Sunday at the Mason Invitational as the Hawks took first place in all seven of their races, including gold in all three final events.

How It Happened
• The day began with statement wins for both Varsity 4 boats. Battling tough conditions that included strong headwind off the start, the young lineups stayed composed and finished first in their respective heats. In the afternoon final, the St. Joe's boats crossed the line in first and second, securing gold and silver medals with times of 9:26.4 and 9:43.4.

• The momentum continued with the Second Varsity 8 as the Hawks put together a composed and aggressive performance with a winning time of 8:54.1 in the morning. Heading into the final with the fastest time, the Hawks secured a gold medal finish with open water over the field with a time of 7:59.5.

• The day ended with a statement win from the Varsity 8. The crew built a lead early and maintained it through the finish in the final, securing a decisive first-place finish with a time of 7:31.2.

"This was a total team effort across every boat class," said head coach Gerry Quinlan. "We're seeing the results of all the work these athletes have put in. This weekend wasn't just about medals - it was about progress, and we're excited about where we're headed."

On the Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4s
"Our depth is starting to show," Quinlan noted. "Our Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4s have been making big strides in practice, and today, they proved they can hang with some very strong crews."

On the Varsity 8
"That was a complete race from start to finish," said Quinlan. "They stayed locked in, trusted their race plan, and executed with maturity and strength. I couldn't be prouder of how they raced today."
