MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team fell to Fordham, 5-0, in the regular season finale for both teams at the SJU Tennis Complex on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• It was a tight battle for the first score of the day, but the Rams ultimately took the doubles point with wins in all three flights.
Wiktoria Czerny and
Victoria Tracey fell in a tiebreak in the first flight, while
Charlotte Kordonowy and
Brooke Tackett played a long tiebreak in the second.
• Fordham claimed the overall victory with four singles wins. Kordonowy took the first set of her second flight match before falling in three sets, and
Victoria Tracey bounced back from a set down in the third to force a supertiebreaker.
HAWK TALK
"Today, the Hawks battled the top team in the Atlantic 10," head coach
Jeff Puhan said. "The doubles point was a battle. I was very proud as we had chances to win in the first, second, third, and sixth singles flights. We need to believe we can compete with them, and we will."
UP NEXT
The Hawks head to Orlando, Florida, for the Atlantic 10 Championship, set to begin on Thursday, April 24.
