Men’s Soccer Drops Road Contest to #17 Bryant, 2-0

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team conceded twice in the second half, dropping a 2-0 defeat to #17 Bryant on Tuesday evening.

Saint Joseph's moves to 2-3-1 on the year while Bryant won its sixth-consecutive win to improve to 6-0-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both sides spent the opening 30 minutes frustrating the opposition attack as neither goalkeeper was tested and only three shots were registered.
  • Head coach Tim Mulqueen turned to his bench for energy over the final 15 minutes of the opening half, inserting Dylan Petke alongside four freshmen into the game. The group held firm defensively, sending both teams into the break without a shot on goal in a scoreless draw.
  • Charlie Undorf opened the second half with the first shot on target of the game, blasting high to the near post to produce the first save of the game.
  • Play opened up for both sides, and the hosts were able to capitalize off a short corner routine. An in-swinging cross found the head of Santiago Blasco Gomez who flashed his attempt into the back of the net in the 54th minute.
  • Bryant doubled its lead on the 69th minute after a ball across the face of goal found a late runner near the penalty spot. Jaime Amaro made no mistake tucking into the lower left corner to double the host's lead.
  • Bryant was able to stave off any late comeback attempts from the Hawks, earning its sixth-consecutive win of the season with a 2-0 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
