PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team saw its run at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships come to an end on Sunday as two Hawk duos took part in the Third Round, while one advanced to the quarterfinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Sehaj Singh Pawar and
Santiago Valle took down their second seeded opponent in as many matches on Sunday morning; after knocking off a top-ten nationally ranked and second-seeded pairing from Columbia on Saturday, the Hawk duo dropped Semen Aginskiy and Radomir Tomic of St. John's, 8-4, to advance to the quarterfinals.
• `
Oscar Baumgartner and
Ernesto Ruy also played in the Third Round, but ultimately fell at that stage to Rafael Gracie and Alex Van Lumich of Lehigh, 8-3.
• Pawar and Valle then saw their run end one win shy of qualifying for the Sectional Championships as they succumbed to sixth-seeded Justin Chung and Aaron Sandler of Penn, 8-2.
