NEWARK, N.J. – A late surge during singles play wasn't enough for the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team, which fell to NJIT by a 6-1 score on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Highlanders took the lead after doubles play, sweeping all three flights.
• After the hosts took the top two singles flights to make it a 3-0 match,
Gisele Tang secured a point for the Hawks with a supertiebreaker win in the sixth flight.
•
June Tronhus and
Amari O'Brien would push their fourth- and fifth-flight matches, respectively, to supertiebreakers as well, but both would fall at the very end. NJIT finished off the match with a win in the third flight.
UP NEXT
The Hawks will visit Lehigh on February 22.
