Sinkus' Homer Lifts Softball to Comeback Win

BETHLEHEM, Pa.Meghan Sinkus hit a two-run homerun in the top of the seventh as the Saint Joseph's softball team rallied for a 5-4 win at Lehigh on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lehigh dented the board with the initial run of the game in the bottom of the first.
  • Saint Joseph's went in front in the fifth. After Morgan Lester singled and Kasi Loser reached on an error, Meghan Sinkus sacrificed the runners to second and third. Muhaw lifted the first pitch to left, plating Lester. Next up was Hasapis roped a triple into right-centerfield, bringing home Loser for a 2-1 lead.
  • The Mountain Hawks wasted no time in getting the runs back with a pair in the bottom half of the inning, one of them unearned.
  • Undaunted, SJU battled back in the top of the sixth as with one out, Alivia Heers was hit by a pitch. On the very next offering, Currie doubled off the rightfield wall. Heers came all the way around from first to score and tie the game at 3-3.
  • Things looked tough as Lehigh scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead, but the Hawks battled back again in the top of the seventh. Loser doubled to right to start the inning off. On the first pitch she saw, Sinkus deposited the ball over the leftfield fence, giving Siant joseph's the lead.
  • Coming on in the bottom of the seventh, Marla Freiwald earned her second save of the season.
