Men’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Delaware, 15-5, in Regular-Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team snapped a three-game skid in dominant fashion, defeating Delaware, 15-5, on Saturday afternoon at Sweeney Field.

Ben Dutton opened the scoring less than a minute into the game, finishing a feed from Collin Campbell to spark a 3-0 run that also featured goals from Keaton Zavitz and Campbell. Delaware ended its early drought midway through the first quarter, but Owen Staunton answered with a takeaway and transition goal — the first of his career — to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead after one.

After the Blue Hens cut the deficit to two, Saint Joseph's responded with consecutive goals from Jack Fiordalis and Colby Wood, followed by Will Barber to extend the lead to 7-2. The Hawks continued to build momentum with another 3-0 run, as Wood, Aidan Kreydt and Jack McGorry each found the net to push the advantage to seven. Delaware scored late in the half to make it 10-4 at the break.

Following a scoreless stretch to open the second half, Trae Ika got on the board before Dutton converted on a man-up opportunity for his third extra-man goal of the season. Dutton and Campbell traded assists on two late goals to extend the lead to 14-5 entering the fourth quarter.

Dutton capped the scoring with his fourth goal of the day, while the Hawk defense held Delaware scoreless over the final 20 minutes. Charlie Giachetti made six of his 11 saves in the fourth quarter to secure the 15-5 victory.
