Biography

Was a starting guard for the Hawks during their first four seasons of varsity competition... Captained the team during her junior (1975-76) and senior (1976-77) seasons... Helped lead the 1975-76 squad to an 18-3 record and a third-place finish at Eastern Region of the AIAW Tournament... As a senior, was instrumental in the 23-5 season and sixth-place finish at the AIAW National Tournament... That team garnered the highest national ranking in SJU women's basketball history, placing third in the final Associated Press poll... Set the school record for steals in a season (102) during 1976-77 campaign... One of the top collegiate coaches since her graduation, she guided Notre Dame to the 2001 NCAA Championship... She played one season (1980) for the California Dreams of the Women's Professional Basketball League prior to beginning her coaching career... She was inducted into the SJU Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Big Five Hall of Fame, and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011... Native of West Chester, Pa. and graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School.
