Was head coach at Villanova from 1961 to 1973... Won 238 games and led the Wildcats to the 1971 NCAA Final Four... Also served as head coach at Rhode Island from 1973 to 1980... Named the Eastern College Coach of the Year three times... Guided his Villanova and Rhode Island teams to a total of 12 postseason appearances, including six NCAA Tournament berths... Hometown is Stone Harbor, N.J... He and late wife, Ann, have three children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
