Biography

He was known as an assist machine by many SJU fans... During his career he set SJU records for assists in a game (13 vs. Lafayette, 1/30/59), a season (175, 1958-59) and career (442)... He still holds the record for season assist average with 6.48 per game... Currently sits in 5th place for assists in a career (442)... He was named First Team All-Big Five selection all three years and earned All-America honors as a senior... He led the team in scoring and assists all three seasons... Became just the third Hawk to top 500 points, scoring 501 for 18.7 average in 1957-58... He still owns records for free throws made (18) and attempted (22) in a game vs. La Salle on February 26, 1958... Finished his career second on all-time scoring list (1,393 points), and currently sits 19th all time... Led SJU to 60-21 record, two NCAA tournament appearances and one NIT bid... Is a native of Philadelphia, Pa. and a product of North Catholic High School.
