Biography

A Legendary Hawk coach helped guide SJU to 10 postseason tournament appearances in 11 years (1955-66) before moving on to successful NBA career... He amassed a 234-72 record (.765) in eleven seasons and sits in first with the all-time winning percentage for a coach in SJU history... He sits in third place for all-time victories by a coach... He guided SJU to 1956 NIT Final Four and the 1961 NCAA Final Four... His 1964-65 team finished #3 in the nation with a 26-3 record... Ramsay's 1965-66 squad, picked pre-season #1 by Sports Illustrated, finished #5 nationally... As a player, he helped SJU post a 41-28 record... He went on to coach in the NBA where he racked up 864 wins in 21 seasons... He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992, Big 5 Hall of Fame in 1983, SJU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999 and the SJU Basketball Hall of Fame in 1974... Hails from Philadelphia, Pa.
