Biography

He was named the Helms Foundation National Player of the Year (1943) in men's basketball... An All-America selection in 1942-43, he became the only St. Joseph's player to lead the nation in scoring, averaging 23.4 points per game as a senior... His 515 points that season set a new school mark... On February 3, 1944, he set a school record for points in a game with 44 points against Rutgers-Newark and his 19 field goals in that game is still the SJU record... Inducted into Big 5 Hall of Fame in 1999... Hails from Mahanoy City, Pa. and is a product of Mahanoy City High School.
