He was a member of both the SJU Basketball ('77) and Baseball ('99) Halls of Fame... As a team captain for basketball, he was named First Team All-Big 5 in 1962 and 1963... Led the Hawks in scoring in 1962 (19.5 ppg) and 1963 (18.4)... Helped lead the team to three straight NCAA Tournament berths, including the 1961 Final Four... His 1,321 points ranks 25th all-time on Hawk Hill, while his 720 career rebounds place him 20th all time... On the diamond, his .341 career average ranks 9th all-time... Blasted eight homeruns and drove in 43 runs in only 57 career games... Also went 3-1 with a 2.13 ERA in 1961... Was drafted by the NBA's New York Knicks, but opted for military service... Native of Milmont Park, Pa. and graduate of St. James High School.
