HAWKS MOVE UP TO #9 IN POLLS;  VISIT RICHMOND ON JAN. 6

RICHMOND, Va. (1/5/04) - The 9th-ranked and unbeaten Saint Joseph's Hawks will take to the road to face Richmond in an Atlantic 10 game on Tuesday, January 6. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Robins Center for the contest that will be broadcast on the Atlantic 10 Television Network and seen regionally on Comcast SportsNet. Click here for game notes, and streaming audio . The 11-0 Hawks moved up to ninth in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today rankings this week, the highest ranking since 1965-66. The squad has achieved the best start in school history with a winning streak that is tied as the fourth best for a Saint Joseph's team. The trip to Richmond starts a stretch for the Hawks that will have them playing two consecutive games on the road, and five of the next seven. The last two games of this stretch will allow the Hawks to stay in the Philadelphia area, as they are at Temple (Jan. 31) and Villanova (Feb. 2). Jameer Nelson, the reigning Atlantic 10 and Big 5 Player of the Week, continues to lead the Hawks with 19.8 points, with backcourt mate Delonte West scoring 18.0 points per game.
