SPORTS MEDICINE DEPARTMENT
The Saint Joseph's Sports Medicine Department serves the student-athlete population through the prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
The Sports Medicine Department works closely with team physicians to provide the student-athletes with the best medical care possible. Team orthopedists Robert Frederick, M.D. and Sommer Hammoud, MD (
www.rothmaninstitute.com), Family Medicine/Sports physicians Tricia Beatty, D.O and Marc Harwood, M.D., Weekly visits for Orthopedics occur on
Tuesday afternoons, Primary Care Sports Medicine on
Thursday afternoons. In addition to physician visits, Rob O'Brien, a physical therapist provided through MainLine Health Rehabilitation, is on campus to treat the entire University community Monday through Friday.
The Sports Medicine Staff is comprised of seven certified athletic trainers. Saint Joseph's University is also a clinical-affiliated site for Central Michigan University, Eastern University, Salisbury State University, Neumann University, West Chester University and Moravian University. Throughout the school year, SJU hosts 5-10 interns from other universities/colleges who, as part of their educational experience, work with Hawk student-athletes.
