Joe Henwood

Biography

He was a three-year varsity rower on men's heavyweight eight crew... Henwood made his mark competing internationally as a member of the Vesper Boat Club and U.S. National Team... He won two gold medals in international competition, one coming in 1967 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada... That team is the last US team to win the gold at Pan American Games... His other gold medal came at 1968 Gillette Cup in Ratzenberg Germany where he rowed three seat on four with coxswain at both regattas... A two-time United States National Schoolboy Single Sculls Rowing Champion (1962, 1964) prior to his arrival at SJU... Part of only two brother combinations to row on same boat as he rowed with his brother, Jim... Resides in Upper Providence Township and graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic Boys High School.
