Paul McDermitt

Biography

He was a letterwinner and standout in four sports... At the time of graduation, he owned more varsity letters than anyone else on Hawk Hill... Known for his defensive prowess in basketball, he was partnered in the backcourt as a junior with Hall of Famer Jack Ramsay and averaged over eight points per game... In his senior season he notched 8.8 points per game to finish third on the team in scoring average behind legend Paul Senesky... He also went from being the school's intramural golf tournament champion to the number one golfer on the varsity squad for three straight years... McDermitt captained the first team that did not have a coach... Also played shortstop for the baseball team... Would also score points for the track team in high jump and javelin... Voted the Class of 1950's Best Athlete by his classmates... Hails from Hollidaysburg, Pa. and is a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.
