Member of the SJU rowing teams that were among the most successful in the East in the early 1960s... Rowed for the Varsity 8 that finished second at the 1964 Dad Vail Regatta... During that time the Hawks won the Bergen Cup twice and had four straight top five finishes at Dad Vails... During his career, rowed in the stroke seat for the three main boats - the Freshman 8, Junior Varsity 8 and Varsity 8... Captained the freshman crew... Was chosen as an alternate for the Pan Am Games as a sophomore... Missed his junior season due to surgery but assisted the team and coaches... Older brother Joe was a Hawks' rowing captain who graduated in 1962... Has since made his mark in medicine, serving as a hematologist at the Mayo Clinic for 37 years... Is currently a professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine... Originally from Springfield, Pa.
