One of the most decorated high jumpers in Saint Joseph's women's track and field program history, Claudine Andre '18 enters her third collegiate coaching season in 2021-22 as a part-time assistant jumps coach for both the men's and women's track and field programs.

Under Andre's first year of direction during the 2020 indoor season, high jumper Philip Dwyer and long jumper Vincent Giordano set new PRs in their respective events on the men's side while Emily Clayton and Ashton Ashby hit new PRs in the high jump on the women's side.

A two-time NCAA Outdoor Track East Regional Preliminary Rounds qualifier, Andre competed in the high jump 48 times over the course of her collegiate career, 23 times indoor and 25 times outdoor. She won 12 titles during that time, including a trio of championship titles as a senior at the 2018 Atlantic 10 indoor and outdoor meets and the 2018 ECAC indoor meet, and took the runner-up spot 12 times, including a second-place finish at the 2018 ECAC outdoor meet and five silver-medal A-10 performances in six opportunities over her freshman, sophomore, and junior campaigns.

Half of Andre's collegiate finishes in the high jump were good for either first or second place.

In all, Andre was a top-ten finisher 45 times, finishing outside of the top ten just three times, with two of those coming at the NCAA East Regional Preliminary Rounds (13th in 2018, 27th in 2016).

Andre turned in a mark of 5' 7" (1.70m) or better 28 times over her career, going over that ECAC standard nine times, including a school-record indoor mark of 5' 9 1/4", which still stands, in the winter of 2018 and a collegiate-best outdoor mark of 5' 8 3/4" twice in the spring of 2018.

The standout captain was awarded Saint Joseph's Class of 1950 Award as the University's top graduating athlete from a female team in 2018. She was also the program's 2018 Most Valuable Performer.

"It's wonderful having Claudine back and involved with the program," said women's track and field head coach Melody O'Reilly. "Her enthusiasm for the jump events is contagious. In the short time she has been working with the jumpers, we have seen immediate results. Claudine found a way to breathe new life back into the program, and the jumpers are excited about their events again."

A native of Upper Darby, Pa. and product of Upper Darby High School '14, Andre graduated from Saint Joseph's University in May 2018 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry while minoring in business administration. She received her postbaccalaureate degree, with a focus on biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology, from Rosemont College in May 2020 and is currently enrolled in Temple University's PharmD program.
