Starting her first season as an assistant coach with the men's and women's track and field programs is Yvonne Harrison.
Joining the Hawks in August of 2022 and responsible for coaching sprints, jumps, and hurdles, Harrison came to Saint Joseph's after serving as head men's and women's cross country and track and field coach at University of the Sciences the past three years.
At University of the Sciences, Harrison saw all four of the Devils' programs succeed both in competition and in the classroom. Along with guiding her teams to several program records during her tenure, Harrison's squads also excelled academically as all four programs were honored as All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Prior to joining USciences, Harrison served as LIU Brooklyn's women's cross country head coach, and an assistant coach with both the men's and women's track and field programs. In her lone season with the Blackbirds, Harrison improved her team's finish at the Northeast Conference Championship in cross country by two places.
Harrison began her collegiate coaching career at St. John's, where she worked as an assistant coach for nine years with the men's and women's cross country, and track and field teams. Harrison's time in Queens was highlighted by five different athletes qualify for the NCAA Championships and two individual Big East and ECAC champions.
Along with collegiate background, Harrison brings international experience to Hawk Hill having coached Olympian Phobay Kutu-Akoi (Liberia) at the 2012 Olympics and to the national record in the 100m. A standout competitor in her own right, Harrison competed in the 400m hurdles for Puerto Rico at the 2004 Olympics where she made the semi-final, along with racing in the 2005 Pan-American Games and the Ibero-American Championships.
An All-American and NCAA silver medalist in the 400m hurdles as a senior, Harrison earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Illinois, and received her Master of Divinity, with a concentration in Homiletics, from Houston Graduate School of Theology.
