Is the Devils all-time leader with two combined shutouts; tied for fifth with 25 games started at pitcher; is seventh with 178.2 innings pitched  and 204 hits allowed; ranks ninth on the Devils all-time strikeouts list with 116; is tied for 13th with one save; tied for 15th on the Devils all-time pitching appearances list with 33; tied for 18th with three complete games thrown

 

2015:  appeared in 14 games, starting nine as pitcher and four as catcher…led the team in starts and innings pitched (49.1)…was second on the team in strikeouts (27) and third in earned run average (4.93)..had four quality starts, second most on the team…tossed his fourth quality start of the season with a six inning effort vs. Felician on 4/25, allowing just two earned runs (three total) on three hits while striking out one…had a walk and a run scored in each game of the doubleheader vs. Wilmington University on 4/22…started and pitched 5.1 innings vs. Dominican College on 4/19, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out four and earning the win…recorded his third quality start of the season on 4/1 vs. Bloomfield College, throwing six innings and allowing two earned runs (three total) on seven hits while striking out two…started and tossed seven innings vs. Post University on 3/25, allowing six runs while striking out two….started and threw six innings at Chestnut hill on 3/19, allowing four runs while striking out two…had a quality start vs. Slippery Rock University on 3/6 in Clearwater, Florida, striking out a season high eight batters while allowing three runs on seven hits and walking only one…caught and went 1-3 vs. Walsh University in Clearwater on ¾…caught and had a double vs. Saginaw Valley State College on 4/2 in Clearwater…opened the season with a quality start, tossing seven innings of one-run ball while striking out four vs. Walsh on 3/1…

 

2014:  appeared in 17 games, starting 15…pitched in ten games, starting nine…also started four times at catcher and twice as designated hitter…led team with 56.2 innings pitched and was tied for team lead with nine starts…second on the team with 40 strikeouts…second amongst starting staff in earned run average (4.29)…allowed three or fewer earned runs in seven of his nine starts, recording six quality starts in the process…allowed one earned run and equaled his season high with seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings at Felician College on 4/26…struck out three and allowed two earned runs in six innings of work at Dominican College on 4/21…allowed three earned runs in three innings at Wilmington University on 4/17…tossed a complete game vs. Chestnut Hill College on 4/10, earning the win while allowing just one run and striking out four…walked and scored a run in a start at designated hitter in game two vs. Concordia college on 4/5…had a pinch-hit single in game one vs. Concordia…struck out five and allowed just two earned runs in eight innings of work at Bloomfield College on 4/2…had a season high seven strikeouts in six innings pitched vs. Nyack College on 3/22…struck out six batters in seven innings pitched at Post University on 3/15…pitched an inning of relief vs. St. Anselm College in Winter Park, Florida on 3/7…went 1-4 vs. Concordia in winter Park on ¾…pitched seven innings, allowing one earned run and striking out five vs. College of St. Rose in Winter Park on 3/3…pitched 2.1 innings vs. Philadelphia University on 2/24 in Bel Air, Maryland.

 

2013:  appeared in 27 of the Devils 36 games, starting eight as pitcher, four in the outfield and 11 as designated hitter…led the team in strikeouts (49) complete games (2) and innings pitched (72.2)…one of six Devils pitchers to record two or more wins (2-7)…allowed five runs in seven innings pitched with four strikeouts in a start in game two at Nyack College on 4/26…had an RBI via a groundout in game one vs. Nyack while starting as designated hitter…had a quality start vs. Dominican College on 4/22, pitching eight innings and allowing three runs while striking out four...also had a single and an RBI in the game…had a single and a run scored in game one vs. Dominican on 4/22…went 3-4 with a double , a run scored and four RBI at Philadelphia University on 4/18…started and pitched 6.2 innings at Chestnut Hill College on 4/16, striking out five while allowing four earned runs…pitched a complete game vs. Felician College on 4/11, allowing just one earned run (three total) on nine hits with a season-high eight strikeouts but took the loss…had a single in game one vs. Felician on 4/11…pitched three innings of relief vs. Millersville University on 4/7, allowing three runs while striking out two…went 1-5 with an RBI vs. Chestnut Hill College on 4/4…suffer his first loss of the season on vs. Wilmington University on 3/20, pitching 7.2 innings and allowing six runs (four earned) while striking out two…had a single in game one vs. Wilmington on 3/20…had a single in game two vs. Concordia on 3/24 and also pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three….had his first collegiate hit, a single, at Villanova University on 3/13 and also pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn his first collegiate save…earned his second win of the season with a quality start vs. Concordia College in Winter Park, Florida on 3/7, pitching six innings while striking out seven and allowing three runs…In his collegiate debut vs. Queens College at Diamond Nation in Flemington, N.J., tossed a complete game, allowing one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts, earning his first collegiate victory.

 

Honors and Activities:  Played in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League in Myrtle Beach, South Carolinas in summer 2015…

 

Prior to USciences:  Four year player at Sterling High School…Team MVP 2012…first Team All-conference 2012…member of 2012 area Carpenter Cup team….awarded outstanding male senior student athlete of the year for the class of 2012…pitched a perfect game his senior year….Second team all-conference 2010 and 2011…captain of varsity baseball team his junior and senior years.

Personal:  Only son of John and Julie Hertz…chose USciences first to get a great education and to be in the greatest city in the world and to have the chance to continue his baseball career while playing a high level…hopes to go onto graduate school in the field of physical therapy.
