2015: Pitched in eight games, starting six…led team in wins (3), strikeouts (32) and earned run average (2.28)…allowed just 12 earned runs all season…led team with five quality starts…second on team with 47.1 innings pitched…pitched the Devils only complete game of the season vs. Felician College on 4/25, throwing nine innings, allowing one run on ten hits while striking out four to earn his third win of the season…the Felician game was his fourth consecutive quality start…started and threw eight innings in a loss to Dominican College on 4/19, allowing three earned runs (six runs total) on 11 hits while striking out three…threw six innings, allowing two earned runs (five runs total) on eight hits while striking out two at Caldwell University on 4/13…allowed one earned run in 7.1 innings at Concordia College on 4/4, striking out a season high nine batters…earned the win in three innings of relief, allowing two unearned runs with four strikeouts vs. Bloomfield College on 4/1…pitched eight innings, allowing one run on four hits to earn the win at Nyack College on 3/23…pitched two innings in relief vs. Slippery Rock University in Clearwater, Florida on 3/6, allowing two earned runs while striking out one…started and pitched four innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out one vs. Saginaw Valley State College in Clearwater on 3/1.
2014: appeared and started in nine games as a pitcher…led the team with 41 strikeouts…was second on the team with 55.1 innings pitched…third on the team with a 4.39 earned run average…finished with a 1-8 record…had best strikeout to walk ratio on the team (5.85- 41 strikeouts, seven walks)…tossed four innings at Felician on 4/26 allowing five runs on eight hits…pitched seven innings at Dominican College on 4/21 allowing four earned runs while striking out five…struck out seven in six innings pitched vs. Chestnut Hill College on 4/10, allowing just two earned runs…allowed three unearned runs in seven innings pitched at Bloomfield College on 4/2, striking out five…struck out seven batters in seven innings pitched vs. Nyack College on 3/22, allowing two earned runs on eight hits…struck out a season-high nine batters in 6.2 innings pitched at Post University on 3/15…pitched six innings vs. College of St. Rose in Winter Park, Florida on 3/8, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three…pitched 5.2 innings vs. St. Anselm College in Winter Park on 3/2…tossed six shutout innings, earning the win vs. Philadelphia University in Bel Air, Maryland on 2/24, allowing just two hits and striking out four.
2013: appeared in nine games as a pitcher, starting six…led the team in earned run average (2.09)…fourth on the team with 17 strikeouts and 38.2 innings pitched…one of six players on the team to record two or more wins (2-2)…tossed a nine-inning complete game in his final appearance of the year on 4/18 at Philadelphia University, allowing one run on six hits….took the loss on 4/11 vs. Felician College, starting and lasting 3.1 innings, allowing five earned runs…earned his first collegiate save on 4/6 at Concordia College, tossing 1.2 innings and allowing just one unearned run…started and pitched eight innings with a no-decision vs. Bloomfield College, striking out a season high seven batters and allowing just one run…pitched one inning of relief at East Stroudsburg University on 3/30…earned his first collegiate win with and eight inning start at Caldwell college on 3/23, allowing one run on nine hits and striking out five….pitched two scoreless innings of relief at West Chester University on 3/10…allowed two unearned runs in one inning of relief vs. Concordia College in Florida on 3/7…In his collegiate debut, allowed four runs (one earned) while striking out three in 4.2 innings pitched vs. Concordia on 3/4, taking the loss.
Honors and Activities: Played in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League - summer 2015… has done community service at Cape Coral Hospital as well as service projects for Manna and local coaching federations…
Prior to USciences: Four year player at Island Coast High School…also earned two varsity letters playing basketball as well as three coaches awards…baseball team won two district championships…graduated summa cum laude.
Personal: Only child of Pablo Matos and Sonia Rodriguez…chose USciences because it’s a hard academic school which will allow him to become a better healthcare professional in the future and because he wanted to play baseball at the Division II level…after receiving his degree he hopes to work towards becoming a physical therapist.
