Biography

Is tied for 16th on the Devils all-time sacrifice fly leaders with two; tied for 18th on the Devils all-time assist list with 93 and double plays turned (12).
 

2016: Appeared in 17 games, making 45 trips to the plate, scoring seven runs with five runs batted in. Datz logged 11 hits on the season with two walks for a .244 average and a .292 OBP, while slugging .289.

2015:  Appeared in 27 games, starting 26…started games at left field, shortstop, second base and designated hitter…finished season with 19 hits…was one of three Devils to hit a home run during the season…tied for second on the team with five doubles…tied for third on the team with 11 RBI…made just two errors in 84 chances…went 1-2 with a run scored at Chestnut Hill College on 4/29…went 1-4 with an RBI at Millersville University…tied  season-high with three hits, including a double and an RBI in game two vs. Wilmington University on 4/22…went 1-5 with a double and a run scored in game two vs. Dominican College on 4/19…went 1-4 with an RBI in game one vs. Dominican…went 1-4 with a double and two runs scored in game one at Philadelphia University on 4/11…had a double in three at-bats with an RBI and two runs scored at West Chester University on 4/9…had a single and a walk in four plate appearances with two RBI and a run scored at east Stroudsburg on 4/2…went 1-4 in the game two vs. Post University…had a single in two at-bats at Nyack College on 3/23…had a double, a sacrifice and an RBI in four plate appearances in game one at Nyack…had a season-high three RBI and three hits while scoring two runs vs. Lake Erie College in  Clearwater, Florida on 03/4…had a solo home run in four at-bats vs. Walsh University in Clearwater on ¾…went 1-5 with a run scored vs. Cedarville University on 3/2 in Clearwater. 

2014:  Appeared in all 38 games during the season, starting 37…split time between shortstop and outfield…led team with 121 at-bats…tied for third on the team with three doubles…third on the team with three stolen bases…fourth on the team with nine runs  scored and nine RBI…tied for fourth on the team with 24 hits…had a single and a stolen base in game two at Felician College on 4/26…went 2-4 at West Chester University on 4/24…had a single in game two at Dominican College on 4/21…had a double and an RBI in game one vs. Philadelphia University on 4/12…singled and scored a run in game two vs. Caldwell College on 4/11…walked and scored a run in game one vs. Caldwell…went 3-4 with a double and an RBI in game one vs. Chestnut Hill College on 4/10…scored a run in game two vs. Chestnut Hill…had a sacrifice and an RBI in game one vs. Concordia College on 4/6…one 1-3 with an RBI in game two vs. Concordia on 4/5…was 2-3 with a sacrifice in game one vs. Concordia on 4/5…walked, stole a base and scored twice in game two at Bloomfield College on 4/2…singled, walked and scored a run in game one at Bloomfield…was 1-3 in game two at Millersville on 3/23…went 1-3 in game two vs. Nyack College on 3/22..had an RBI in game two vs. East Stroudsburg University on 3/18…went 1-3 in game two vs. Post University on 3/15…had a single, RBI and scored a run in game one vs. Post…went 1-4 vs. College of St. Rose in Winter Park, Fla. Honors and Activities:  At USciences, participated in Martin Luther King Day of Service, cleaning up a local ballfield in West Philadelphia…played in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina during the summer of 2015…volunteered at a baseball camp for kids while in high school. 

Prior to USciences:  Four year player at Pitman High School…team captain as a senior…two-time first team All-Conference…Named to All-South Jersey baseball Team…Two-time Carpenter Cup Selection…Earned MVP  and Best Hitter awards from Pitman …over 100 career hits in high school…team won South Jersey Group 1 title as a senior…team was Group 1 State Champions as a freshman…also played basketball where his team was South Jersey Group 1 Champions as a sophomore. 

Personal:  One of two children of Steve and Susan Datz...has a cousin Jeff who has been a professional scout for the N.Y. Yankees and Seattle Mariners and also played briefly with the Detroit Tigers…Chose USciences because it is a great school that will allow him to find a good job upon graduation and a place where he was recruited to play the sport he loves…hope to get a job in sales and eventually start his own business after graduation.
