Beginning her second season as an assistant coach with the Saint Joseph's women's rowing team in 2020-21 is Rachael Tobinus.

In her first year with the Hawks, Tobinus guided SJU to a strong fall campaign as it captured the program's first-ever title in pairs at the Small Boat Challenge and placed a program-best third place in the 4+ at the Head of the Charles.

Tobinus came to Hawk Hill after spending the 2018-19 season as a graduate assistant at her alma mater, Jefferson University. Working primarily with the novice and Second Varsity 8, she helped the Rams earn a team bid to the 2019 NCAA Championship where Jefferson placed fifth in the DII Women’s Eight and sixth in the DII Women’s Four.

As an undergrad, Tobinus was a four-year letterwinner and member of the Varsity 8. A three-time CRCA National Scholar-Athlete, she led her team to the 2017 Club National Championships Overall Points Trophy as a member of Vesper Boat Club, placed 10th at the 2016 Head of the Charles Regatta in the Collegiate 4+ and competed in the 2015 NCAA Championship as a member of the At-Large 8.

Graduating with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2018, Tobinus received her master's degree in community and trauma counseling in May of 2019.
