Former Saint Joseph's University ('13) standout distance runner Sara Walker concluded her first season as an assistant coach on the Saint Joseph's women's track and field coaching staff for the Spring 2015 season.

Walker assists in all facets of the program, with a primary focus on mentoring SJU's distance group.

"Sara brings a fire, passion, and committment to Saint Joseph's University and to the athletes who are following in her footsteps," said head coach Kevin Quinn.

A four-year letterwinner on both the cross country and track and field squads on Hawk Hill from 2009-13, Walker owns the third leg of the school-record Distance Medley Relay (11:45.91), set at the 2012 ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Walker also ran on the winning 4x800m relay at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, earning A-10 All-Conference First Team honors. 

Walker ran legs on seven 4x800m relays and one DMR that scored at A-10 meets between 2010-13. Additionally, she ran legs on four 4x8s and one DMR that scored at ECAC meets btween 2010-12.

Walker was a captain of both the cross country and track and field squads as a senior in 2012-13 and concluded a successful career on Hawk Hill with PRs in the 800m (2:16.55), 1000m (2:55.20), 1500m (4:39.87), mile (5:07.00), and 3000m (10:19.22).

A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Walker graduated with a degree in political science from SJU in May 2013.
