Mikayla Vaughn enters her first season on Hawk Hill after joining the Saint Joseph's staff in August 2025.
Prior to her arrival to St. Joe's, Vaughn spent four years playing professionally overseas, with stops at Limonta Sport Costa Masnaga (Italy), Basket Namur Capitale (Belgium), Enea AZS Politechnika Poznan (Poland), and the Southside Flyers Dandenong (Australia). Following her graduation from Notre Dame, she also joined the Minnesota Lynx for preseason before beginning her professional career abroad.

A standout forward at Notre Dame, Vaughn appeared in 80 career games with the Fighting Irish, earning 36 starts across four seasons. In her career, Vaughn registered 506 points while shooting nearly 57 percent from the field. She was consistently one of the best defensive players on the squad, finishing with 343 rebounds, 85 blocks and 59 steals in her career.

During the 2020-21 season, Vaughn started all 16 games she played and led Notre Dame in field goal percentage (.573) while averaging 6.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game. She ranked among the ACC’s leaders in both blocks (7th) and steals (10th). Vaughn shined in January 2021, shooting an ACC-best 72.7 percent from the floor while averaging 9.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

As a junior in 2019-20, Vaughn made 20 starts and emerged as one of the most improved players in the league. She averaged 10.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 58.4 percent from the field – the second-best mark in the ACC. She recorded nine double-digit scoring games after returning from injury earlier in the year, including two 20-point performances, and posted two double-doubles on the season.

Vaughn was part of two Notre Dame squads that advanced to the national championship game, highlighted by the 2017–18 team that captured the title. She appeared in six games that season before an ACL injury cut her freshman campaign short, averaging 13.2 minutes while shooting an impressive 62.2 percent from the field. Returning the following year, Vaughn played a key role off the bench during the Irish’s 2018–19 run to the NCAA final, making 38 appearances and contributing important performances in the postseason, including nine points and a career-high 11 rebounds in the First Round against Bethune-Cookman.

A native of Philadelphia, Vaughn starred at Paul VI Catholic High School (VA) after beginning her career at Friends’ Central School. She was ranked No. 56 overall in the 2017 espnW HoopGurlz Top 100 and finished her high school career with 1,735 points and 1,055 rebounds. A decorated prep player, she was named the 2017 WCAC Player of the Year, VISAA Division I Player of the Year, and earned Washington Post All-Met First Team honors, among many accolades.
