Steven C. Knauss joined the Hawks as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in January 2024.  Knauss works with the women's soccer, men's and women's track and field, softball, and men's and women's golf programs at Saint Joseph's.

Knauss (pronounced kuh-nowse) served six years in the United States Marine Corps as well as the U.S. Department of State, taking part in military and diplomatic operations in Okinawa, Thailand, South Korea, Mozambique, Kuwait, and Israel. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 2017.  Knauss began his strength and conditioning career in 2021 as a strength coach intern with G Strength in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Before arriving on Hawk Hill, Knauss served as the strength and conditioning coach for the Anderson Monarchs and the Philadelphia Stars youth athletic programs at the Ryan Howard Academy in Philadelphia from 2021 to 2024; he also served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Drexel University from 2022 to 2024.

Knauss graduated from Temple University, earning his bachelor’s of science in exercise and sport science in 2022, before earning a master of science degree in sport business from Drexel in 2024.  He also holds a certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) and is a Certified Functional Strength Coach level 1 (CFSC 1).
