PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Craig Olsen (Medford, NJ) scored a goal in the first half as Saint Joseph's and Massachusetts played to a 1-1 double overtime tie in the Atlantic 10 men's soccer opener for both teams. It was also the Hawks' first home game of the season at Finessey Field. SJU moves to 1-6-1 (0-0-1 Atlantic 10) while UMass goes to 3-5-1 (0-0-1).

Olsen put the Hawks on the board in the 26th minute. He took one shot which deflected off a UMass defender and collected the ball to blast a shot from point blank range, which then hit the crossbar and fell into the net.

Massachusetts got the equalizer at 60:11 when Tyler Pagano sent a long cross to Robby Charest, who headed it from five yards away.

The teams played a hard fought and physical match the rest of the way, with neither team able to capitalize. UMass took it to the wire and with five seconds left in the second overtime, Rich Higa was in the box, but sent his shot just high over the net.

Chris DiStefano (Turnersville, NJ) made five saves for Saint Joseph's while facing 17 UMass shots. Colin Burns made two stops in goal for UMass, which outshot the Hawks, 17-9.

The Hawks return to action on Sunday when they host Rhode Island at 1 p.m.
