Frosh Men Pick Up Four Golds at Frostbite Regatta

Nov. 13, 2004

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team put an exclamation point on its fall season and laid the groundwork for the future with an impressive four gold medal performance by its novice boats at the Frostbite Regatta on the Schuylkill River. Doubling up several of the boats, 10 Hawks claimed two gold medals apiece.

The men showed a tremendous amount of speed on Saturday with the Freshman 4, Second Freshman 4, Freshman 8 and Second Freshman 8 each taking gold in solid fields. The third Freshman 8 picked up a bronze.

Despite the end of the fall season, SJU will stay on the water as long as the weather holds out to continue honing its strokes. The squad will also begin a tougher regimen of training to get ready for the Spring. The team rowed strong races against its Dad Vail foes this Fall and has certainly established itself as the team to beat in'05.
