PHILADELPHIA (4/28/03) - Senior Mike Walls has been named the Atlantic 10 baseball player of the week for the period ending on Sunday, April 27. Walls had a spectacular week, hitting safely in all seven games for the week, collecting 10 hits in 26 at-bats (.385). He totaled 10 RBI and six runs scored. The third baseman slammed a two-run homer in the first inning of the Hawks' 11-1 win over St. Bonaventure on Apr. 26 in game one of a doubleheader. On the pitching side, he hurled a perfect seventh inning to record the save in SJU's 11-10 win in game two...also earned a save with a scoreless inning in St. Joe's 8-7 victory over Villanova. For the week Walls allowed one run in five innings pitched out of the bullpen. He is the third SJU player to be cited by the league joining teammates Bill McCollum and Mike DeLorenzo.
