PHILADELPHIA (06/02/04) - Saint Joseph's University has named
Megan Gresh and Terry O'Connell the recipients of the Senesky Awards given to the top graduating male and female senior scholar athletes.
Gresh, a four-year starter and captain of the women's lacrosse team, earned Academic All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors for the second straight season. The Turnersville, N.J. product (Washington Township H.S.) made the transition from defense to midfield and established career highs in goals (eight), assists (nine) and points (17) in 2004. She also scooped up 28 groundballs to give her 119 for her career, good for fifth in Hawk history. The senior is a biology major with a 3.82 GPA.
A four-year standout on the Hawk men's track team, O'Connell participated in both the sprints and jumps during his career. As a senior, the Jenkintown, Pa. native's (Bishop McDevitt H.S.) top times outdoor were 11.67 in the 100m and 23.33 in the 200m. A three-time winner of the men's track team's scholar athlete award, the accounting major boasts a 3.81 GPA.
Both athletes were named to the University's Dean's list and were members of both the SJU Athletic Director's and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Rolls.
